With the damp comes the termites
It is not necessarily the rain that sees an increase in termite activity but the damp that comes with it. It’s the source of food that causes them to wake up from their dormant state and start eating. If your proerty has any issues with water leaks or flood damage then this will provide a active source for termites to target. Water damage to internal framework or timber around the house may not be obvious to the naked eye but for a termite it's a signal to get on the march and to start eating. Termites are also more likely to move indoors when it's raining outdoors providing a bigger threat to your property.
Termite alates are winged termites whose main purpose is to reproduce and create new colonies.
Dampened soil due to rain signals the beginning of the termite reproduction process and makes it easier for termites to create new tunnels in the soil into homes for that to be established. So if you think you are seeing these flying termites on the move because of the rain
then you are not seeing things. This is a common activity because of rain.
So rainy season is a crucial time for termites as the availability of damp sources of food makes it easier for them to chew
